On international women's day we celebrate women across the world.
International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8, aims to focus global attention on the state of women when it comes to gender equality, bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Its goal is to make the world more diverse, equitable and inclusive for them.
Each year IWD is given a theme, which often relates to contemporary events, trends and struggles. This year the focus is on 'breaking the bias', as explained on the official website. 'Imagine a gender equal world.
We want to take time to highlight and celebrate female mathematicians past and present. Our work and the work of our scientists wouldn't be possible without maths.
International Women’s Day isn’t just about women - it's about us all working together and treating everyone equally. #breakthebias.
And on this, International Women’s Day, we admire and send our support to all the courageous women and girls in Ukraine and Russia who are standing up for their rights and democracy.
