Scymaris' commitment to capital investment continues

11 Sep 2023

Throughout 2022 we have continued to support our teams with capital investment, and this included the addition of the Dionex™ ASE™ 350 Accelerated Solvent Extractor earlier in the year.

Here at Scymaris we are accustomed to dealing with difficult matrices including sediment, soil, sludge as well as a range of aquatic media and tissues. In order to analyse a chemical of interest it needs to be separated from the matrix. The Accelerate Solvent Extraction (ASE) system passes high temperature solvent (up to 200°C) under high pressure (1500psi) through a tightly packed column of finely ground matrix thereby separating the chemical of interest from its solid matrix and deposit it in a glass vial ready for analysis.

The ASE system has improved the efficiency of our extractions by reducing the volume of solvent required and therefore increasing the sensitivity of our methods. In addition this ASE system has also increased sample throughput allowing us to deal with a larger number of samples to support a range of different studies.

We have a long history of offering technically excellent analytical chemistry and environmental testing services. With continuous investment combined with our expertise we continue to provide the very best to our clients within the UK and around the globe.
